About

New and experienced home educators wanted!

Parenting is already hard, but now many of us have been faced with less than ideal circumstances for our children’s education in addition to the usual difficulties. In the recent months, many parents who had previously had a good experience with their children’s schooling have gotten frustrated with distance learning or how their local school systems have been handling the pandemic. I opted out of the education paradigm years ago and want to provide support and resources for parents struggling with a new normal. This community is dedicated to parents who have taken on the challenge of educating their own children and those who may be flirting with the idea. Traditional schooling is not a good fit for every child, and many have been learning the hard way that heavily tech dependent schooling can make life miserable.

I want this to be a positive, uplifting community. Ask questions, give your best advice, celebrate your children’s knowledge and experience milestones. Some venting of frustrations is acceptable, but please keep the complaining to a minimum, because we are about looking to the future and not lamenting past transgressions. Constructive criticism is welcome when offered in the spirit of love, helpfulness and community, but please refrain from criticizing parenting, religious and lifestyle choices made by others in the community. I reserve the right to update these guidelines if problematic posts or comments crop up, though I can’t think of anything that well-meaning parents looking to educate their own children could possibly say or do…people always manage to surprise me. I really don’t want to be the one to have to tell you you are being too judgmental or mean-spirited, so LET’S ROCK AND ROLL, TEAM!
