education at home
My name is Lyndsey (LP) and I have been homeschooling 2 sons for 7 years! I want to host a community of parents choosing to home educate their children. Strange times in 2020 brought more families to explore alternatives to traditional schooling. I would like to provide a space for guidance and support of families who have opted out of the education assembly line. My personal education philosophy is that the learner is responsible for the act of learning.

Figuring out what your child loves and using it for education
My son loves football, and fortunately sports are easy to turn into opportunities to learn nearly everything! Science, math, history, geography, literature. Here is a great YouTube channel for sports/STEM knowledge.

I will probably have the kids copy passages into their journals. The amount of text per page is not too much to be overwhelming. Previously, we had been copying from 365 Days of Precepts by RJ Palacio every day for 2 years, and that book binding is completely ruined. The book exists in two halves now. Time for a change!
